Well worth taking the 30-minute $5 guided tour. Climb the steeple stairs to the bell chamber where teenage Paul Revere worked, and walk through the crypt to view the 37 tombs below the church floors.

If you're following the Freedom Trail I'd highly recommend stopping in the Old North Church. You can tour on your own, but joining a guided tour is definitely worth it.

Built in 1723, this church, Boston’s oldest, played a role in Paul Revere’s famous ride on April 18, 1775.
